Reaching Jaywick
Reaching Jaywick is CoastNet’s name for a programme of work which addresses some of Jaywick’s issues by making the most of its strengths: its strong community and its seaside location.
The Reaching Jaywick project is funded for 3.5 years by a Big Lottery Fund grant. This will cover the costs of three project staff who will be working in partnership and in support of other local community development workers, local community groups and organisations.

The Project Team has now been recruited and their work has begun...
Since the beginning of April 2010, they have been busy forming relationships within Jaywick and organising the project office. Their first task is to gather information and ideas and to review and refocus the Project Action Plan, to give greater emphasis on working together with community groups and others and towards improving the quality of life in Jaywick. The four project themes remain the basis of the Project Action Plan. These are:
- Supporting existing community groups
- Working in a community planning manner to seek improvements in infrastructure and housing issues
- Supporting and increasing local clean-ups and open and green space opportunities
- Developing opportunities for children, young people and the elderly to use film, arts media and history experiences to develop a feeling of achievement and pride in Jaywick.
