CoastNet Board
As a Charity CoastNet must have a Management Board of Trustees. [They are also Directors, because CoastNet is also a registered Company.] They are ultimately responsible for what CoastNet does. They have a duty to ensure that CoastNet remains in good financial health and delivers its ‘charitable purpose’.
CoastNet’s Trustees are all volunteers, are elected from time to time (normally for 3 years) by the Members of the network, and are independent. That is they are not appointed by any outside body, such as a government department, a business, or an environmental organisation.
Generally our Trustees have a professional interest in coastal matters. Typically they may be local government officers (planners, engineers etc), or they may be from academia, or from consultancy firms. However, any member may stand for election, whatever their background. The important thing is that they care about CoastNet and its work and are prepared to make a positive contribution to strategy and operational oversight.
